I have picked up a steering column that looks like it is in good shape.

Is there an easy way to tell the difference of 4:1 to 5:1 column? Or are they the same?

The stop pin on the steering that it currently in the car is really loose.

Steve, if the column is 5:1 you will find the number 5 stamped on the little planet gears as well as on the end of the steering shaft where the gears are. If there is no 5 than the ratio is 4:1

The steering columns on the 1926 and 27 have the 5:1 gears . You can tell a 26/27 column because they have a square brackets on the base of the column were they connect to the firewall.
