Model T Ford Forum: Forum 2017: Question about Classtique Carpet Kits

Has anyone purchased a carpet kit for a 1925 Tudor from Classtique Upholstery? If so, how was the fit and overall workmanship? Classtique seems to be the only suppler that includes the drivers seat riser/gas tank cover and the rear seat kick panel in the kit. I plan on talking to Classtique via phone concerning other questions, but I wanted to get some customer feedback if I could.

Thanks,

Charles

I purchased a front and rear carpet set from Classtique for my unmolested 1924 Tudor a few years ago. When it arrived I noted that it was wonderfully made but it didn't fit around the drivers seat properly. It was off by maybe an inch or two. I called them and they told me that they made it according to their pattern taken from an original car. My car is also an original car that has not been modified. They told me to either mark it how I wanted it cut or to just recut it myself and to return it to them for rebinding. Luckily, the carpet was too big and there was enough material to cut it to fit. I reluctantly cut into my new carpet and returned to them (at my expense). They rebound it and returned it to me without an explanation. I suspect the rear carpet they sent me was for a different year tudor. It is a well made high quality carpet and I would probably use them again if I ever get another car but I would made a paper pattern of what I need and send it to them with my (next) order.

Hello Bruce, and thanks for your input. I really appreciate it. As you say they may have sent you the incorrect rear carpet for your 24. I doubt the carpet would be off that much if they took measurements from an "unmolested" example. It was unfortunate that you had to go to all of that trouble, but it was nice that they made it right. The interior dimensions of both the 24 and 25 are the same,so I'll have some critical measurements at hand when I talk to Classtique before making a purchase. Thanks again Bruce for taking the time to fill me in on your experience.

Charles

I have used Classtique (Mike and Elizabeth) for various projects over the years. You will not be disappointed with their service.

I have a friend who bought carpet from the other upholstery company for a '26 Tudor. It wads up as he moves his feet around. Flimsy.

The carpet for my '27 Tudor came from Classtique. It is stiff, can't wad up, and fits well.

Mike and Bill, thank you for your input. It looks like I'll definitely give Classtique a try.
