Soldering these cracks a few months ago worked for awhile, but they're back.
Coolant tracks down the side show that the leak is bringing it down to the level of the crack. It doesn't cover the tubes.
This side doesn't show any coolant tracks, but I still don't like that crack.
I really don't want to replace my old tank with a new one, and it's not just because of the money. I hope somebody can suggest a repair that will hold this radiator together.
See what happens when you go 50 she starts coming apart. Just kidding That is not the top tank that is the side panel I put new ones on a 15 here and used all the other old brass and it still look right.
It will change the appearance somewhat, but you need more surface area and some mechanical strength across those cracks. Try cutting some brass sheet strips and solder the strips over the cracks after cleaning things up as clean as you can get them.
Steve, get it repaired like this and just tell anyone that asks that you have an Australian colonial radiator.
Tastefully done, Frank!
Frank , that is pride in repair. Very nice.
