My wife and I are planning to visit Detroit in July. How long does it take to tour the Piquette Avenue Plant? Also, is parking available nearby for RVs?

Thanks,
Dan

Lots of parking on site. Figure 2 to 3 hours at Piquette.

Lots to see and do in Motown. Henry Ford Museum/Greenfield Village/Rouge day and a half for a quick look see. Detroit Institute of Arts, sponsored by Edsel Ford 1/2 day for quick look see. Edsel and Elanor Ford Home in Grosse Pointe 1/2 day. Meadowbrook Hall Dodge Mansion Rochester 1/2 day. Stahl Auto Museum Chesterfield Twp. (1/2 day) Going Westerly look around Ypsilanti 1/2 day. Ford Mill Tours a long day. Gilmore Museum Kalamazoo Full day. Auburn Indiana day and a half.

Then you can go northerly in Michigan and spend a leisurely week looking at all the treasures. Great camping parks.

I moved to Detroit from Sandy Springs Ga Tech) on '72 and am still finding new things to see and do.

How big is the RV?

There is parking across the street and in the lot but there is a low bridge to access the parking lot.

Our RV is about 11.5 feet tall. I wonder how "low" the bridge is?

Thanks,
Dan

Dan, back in 2013 I was escorted in a group by a docent and that took only about 20 minutes but the place is so doggone interesting that I stayed for several hours.

From Piquette:

The clearance is 11'6", BUT there is some lighting in the "tunnel" that may hang below that elevation. Sounds like a tight fit!

Parking is available on the street and in an unpaved, (for now), lot across from the plant.
