Model T Ford Forum: Forum 2017: Muffler Placed Correctly?

Look just above the tip of the muffler; see the rusty area caused by too much heat?

This begs the question, "Is the muffler placed wrong? Is it TOO close to the bottom underside of the floor boards?"

Would the curved-down tailpipe help, or should I find a muffler with different brackets?

The distance from the top of the muffler wrap to the bottom underside of the floorboards is about 1".

The boards get really hot while driving.

Is this muffler installed correctly?

The muffler on my T is mounted directly below the frame. The turn down pipe is OK if you only go on paved roads. If you run a dirt road it will spin up a great deal of dust.
