Saturday, Ellen drove her 20 and I drove the 24 to Ward O'Hara Old Way Day's in Auburn, NY. We have been driving our T's to the Museum for free Model T rides for about 10 years now. The truck belongs to the museum. It was really neat seeing all three T's giving rides at the same time. The museum has many old way day activities going on and open to the public. No charge and so many nice things for the family. Griswold cooking (home made waffles, and jams), home made ice cream and butter (made on site), popcorn, lemonade, fresh herb dips from their garden, blacksmith, pottery, weaving demonstrations, farm animals, horse drawn wagon rides etc. all with no charge. Makes for a fun family day. People absolutely love riding in the T's. The smiles make this a rewarding day.
This museum was one of the stops on the 2016 MTFCI 60th annual tour in Auburn that we hosted
Very nice Dan, thanks for the photos. More communities should consider "old ways days" celebrations
That is how it should be. I'm sure you find it rewarding to do this.
It is nice to see this sort of thing happening.
Thats a great thing you do. Thanks to you and your wife. Giving rides is always fun. Brings smiles to them and me! Drive safe and often
Yes more communities should do things like this. Some of these museums have a lot to offer, but even this one does not do very much promoting for this event. Next year Ellen is going to try and change that by getting involved to promote the Old Way Days. One of the reasons we started doing this is the museum puts this on every year free of charge, along with everything else they do throughout the year. It's perfect for a family on a budget. The comments that you get while doing this are very interesting. The most gratifying have been Mennonite families and how respectful the children are, and the questions they ask. They really pay attention. Next are the farm kids, also very respectful and how they interact with each other.
When we are out with the T's, we always let people sit in them for pictures and give a ride if they want.
