If your working on Model T Generators here is two things to watch for.
I recently purchased 10 Model T generator Field Windings and found two of them had been improperly assembled. Both of had windings with polarity orientation N-S-S-S and the generator will not work this way. The correct orientation N-S-N-S.
I also found another bit of information about the field windings being formed backwards. Here is a Ford Service bulletin reference about this problem.

Good info Ron - thanks for sharing.

Many years ago I used to rebuild Splitdorf generators. I had to wind my own field coils as no replacements were available. I understand how they can be put together wrong if care is not taken.
