I have always used universal 30 by 3 1/2 "oversize" tires. I need 2 tires and thought about switching to Wards Riversides. I realize they are all made in Viet Nam and probably all last about the same. That's not the topic. My question is:
When on the rim and inflated, besides the obvious tread pattern, etc will Wards and Universals look the same. I think Universals have a rounded "poofy" look to them. Are Wards "oversize" the same as the Universals??
Thanks.
I just put 4 new Wards Riversides on my T. I replaced a coupe of Universal T drivers and the Wards are skinnier in comparison.
The spare is an old Universal T driver, the rest are Wards.
Thanks Dave when you say skinnier do you mean across the tread ? I other words is the outer diameter the same?
Looking at the dimensions on their website, the Universal ribbed tires are the closest to the "standard" 30 inch diameter.

I don't have the measurements but here is the difference between the old tires (circa 1964) and the new oversized tires I put on my 19.
The camera was at an angle. You are seeing the actual difference in diameter.
The T will now go faster! Maybe!
