I have a '26 Speedster project with a narrow buggy seat that isn't all that comfortable and way too narrow for 2 people. Open to ideas on how to build my own bench type seat that offers more comfort.
Thanks for the feedback & suggestions.
Unless you want to make a new on from scratch, could you just take the one you have and make it wider? You'd have to have it re-upholstered but you're going to do that with an all new seat too.
Take that seat, cut it in half right down the middle, and then tig weld you in a piece of sheet metal.
Personally, that buggy seat is a little too curvy and styled for the rest of your speedster. Get some big sheet metal and just make a whole new seat from scratch. Flat piece on the bottom in the outline you want and then wrap another piece around as the back, cut the sides for your arms.
Yes, for comfort, the seat sides have to be way wider than the frame rails. You might be able to flare out the bottom of your cowl, widening the floor area so by the time you get to where the seat is, there will be room for two folks!
