Not having much luck find the clip that holds the cap in place. Checked with the Volkswagen wholesaler in town, and he stated you need to buy a new distributor. He wishes he knew who made the clips because he cannot purchase them either.

Bill Devine at Birdhaven has been looking, too. Not much luck there.

I have the Texas T distributor that has the rivets that hold the clip in place.

Wondering is\f anyone here on the forum can assist. Thank you.

Cameron: I wish I could draw on this thing,so you will understand. The clip above has one curved tail in the middle that fits into the bracket held by the screw. I need one that has just the opposite - two tails, one on left and right with a slot in the middle, sort of like a square letter C laying on its side. |_| I hope this is clear.

How about a binder clip? They come in just about any size you want.

This is the rivet without the clip.

This is the clip on the good side.

Does that help?

It is definitely a Bosch distributor and it came from Texas T.

Dave;
You might look at the 009 distributors on Ebay for the parts you need. I did a quick check and saw a number of them that looked to have the clips you need.

I really need to check my local parts stores.
I have an 009 (two) around here. 2 Ford engines have that 009 dizzy. Many decades apart.
JF4 or JFU4 Bosch dizzy's.

Cameron has you covered. In the ebay link you will find that young can get a complete new distributor with the clips you need delivered to your door for $35.

Thanks Ted. Yes the clips that Cameron showed are wrong , but the link to the distributor looks like it has the right clips. So I will spring the $35 and maybe just replace the entire distributor instead of new clips. Hope it fits in the housing.

Dave H.,
If you have the time & desire, visit a storm & screen window dealer near you - if there is one. NOT a big BOX store, just a "little operation".
Years ago I purchased some windows for my home and the inserts (screens & windows) were held in place by clips resembling your distributer clips. I realize that the distributor clips are "captured" at the bottom, whereas the window clips will not be. Also, the window clips may not be the right length...but what the heck, if some folks use barbed wire for ignition wire, why can't you use the right sized window clips for the distributor cap.

(I'll bet Mr. Thrifty would try them :-) )
