I am headed to the Bonneville Salt Flats on Thursday and wondering if any other T people will be there? I will have the T-Tanic if you are there and see my car, stop and say hi. Dennis
I'll be getting there Sunday, I'll keep my eyes open
I'll be there, this is my first time.
It will be nice to have a group of people who drive my speed!
I'm leaving Friday morning early......
Taking my motor home and dragging our orange VW convertible behind me...
Growing up in SoCal, we were an hours drive from El Mirage and went there a hunert times for the races ...This will be my first time to the salt and Speed week...
Just a suggestion before you go. Go to West Marine and buy a gallon of Salt Away, put it in a garden sprayer and douse the bottom of your vehicle before you go. It won't stop the damag3e from the salt, but it will help tremendously. When you leave, make use of the car wash guy at the end of the access road, or go to the carwash in Wendover with several rolls of quarters and get as much salt off the bottom side as possible.
The best car show in the world is at the Nugget Casino in Wendover on Friday and Saturday afternoon and evening. If your going don't miss it
I'll be there Friday evening after a 24 hour drive from Indiana. have been going since 2007, didn't make it to 2015, since it was flooded. Better to know before you go that it was cancelled, unlike 2014 when we just sat around waiting for it to be a no-go. Part of a motorcycle team that set a record last year. I'll be near the 5 mile marker, at the Four Aces Cycle pit, if anyone wants to stop by.
Thanks for the advice Dan. I got my Salt Away from amazon. Truck is getting a good before and after douche.
The other trick, when you get home is an oscillating lawn sprinkler under the vehicle for several days moving it every few hours. You will be surprised how much salt you brought back with you. the other trick is to cover your interior carpets with 4 or 6 mil plastic sheet and duct tape it up to the side panels, firewall and seat fronts. As a friend says: that sh_t gets everywhere.
That's how we would clean the jeep after getting in the mud.
I put my 36 ford on the lift and pressure washed under it after being at Speedweek last year. That stuff does get everywhere. I also had a couple of broken fender brackets due to the nonstop bumpy road getting to the pits. Oh and the car show was cool too, I put my car in it twice last year. I even had the opportunity to pass a race track official on I80 doing 80 and his jaw about dropped.
