16 t touring My horn has been missing for some time. i bought a used mag horn(?) from Hershey, cleaned and painted, need to adjust. Is there a special long offset socket wrench, crows foot? Remove snout? Thoughts appreciated!
Reach an ordinary deep well socket in there and unscrew the lock nut. Usually you can then get the screw in the middle to turn using an ordinary screwdriver. If you loosen it only enough to turn the screw you can usually get the thing to work. the correct setting is supposed to be for maximum loudness while drawing 2 amps RMS current. A Hand cranked coil tester can be used to power it up off the car but ultimately you need to adjust it to the power of your own car's magneto. If you connect it to draw more than 2 amps the horn button will function as a "kill" switch for your motor.
Peter,I made this tool to adjust mine. The T handle goes inside the tube with th socket welded on. I can hold the adjustment with the screwdriver while the locknut is tightened.
Hope this helps.
