I finally found a Himco transmission for my model T. I know it's model T blasphemy, but I'm not the biggest fan of the stock T transmission. I'm really excited to try and make this conversion work. I think I've got everything but some clutch plates. Has anyone ever driven one?
I'm zero help but I think they are super cool, especially since they are a period correct accessory. I would put a working one on a speedster in a heartbeat.
Well done in finding one. I'm looking forward to hearing your journey of getting it in a reliable working condition.
One thing to possibly consider is whether the chassis needs to be streghtened...how much more weight does this entire setup add? Ads in the following link say the crack-case is cast iron.

Maybe the frame needs to be boxed?
I saw this setup in a TT once and it is really neat.I don't think there is that much extra weight really as you remove the stock oil pan,and transmission and install the Himco.
Should be alot of fun to drive.

For several years at Hershey there was a 1927 Touring car parked next to space RCA 49 that had a Himico transmission.
From the look of the design, my guess it makes driving a Model T very much like driving a Model A.
But adds to the T's cool factor Ron
I'm looking forward to getting it in the mail and finding out if it needs anything, needs rebuilding, or if it's useable.
Hoping you're able to put that cool accessory to work. Please post pics. From memory, there was a fellow poster a few years back that bought the remains of a T with a Himico in it but I can't the post !
A GMC 3 speed can be adapted to it as john steel posted a while back

That's pretty cool! I'll post pictures when it arrives.
The case got broken during shipping. Here are photos of the set up. Now I need a new case and some clutch parts.

You could probably get the broken case repaired like new at Casting Salvage Technologies in Stafford, Virginia. It is a bit expensive, but they do remarkable work and when done you will never be able to it was ever broken.
I saved the pieces in case that needs to be done. I'd love to find someone with a spare case though.
Daniel-
How was it shipped? Insured, I hope. Maybe it will pay for the repair. Those Himco are not too common.
Apparently it was insured, I'll see how it goes.
That is disgusting! A little care and it should have been fine. I guess people have really gotten much worse about caring about anything but themselves.
I do know that it can be repaired. But that is nasty.
Does anyone else have one? I would really appreciate info on how the clutch assembly works.
Daniel, did you buy this unit off ebay?
Stephen
A simple rollcage of 2x4s would have prevented that. I have built a wood cage around a heavy item, and then put it in a box, no issues. The shippers are butchers.
The seller has told me that they're going to try to set things right, I'm not going to bash them. I am however very interested in finding a good fix.
Daniel, there is more than one way to repair your transmission. Just do some research as has been said. Most likely it will be easier, cheaper, faster than trying to find another case. They are made of unobtainion I think. You are VERY lucky to have found this one. GOOD LUCK!!! JMHO Dave
Terrible news! I hope you get lucky and find a new case. Maybe put ad on AACA and Fordbarn forums.
