Please join us in celebrating our father Rayís 90th birthday! Dad was born at the end of the Model T era on September 2nd, 1927. He grew up during the depression in a small town in Northern Alabama. After starting college he enlisted in the Navy toward the end of WW2. After the War he attained a Mechanical Engineering degree at Auburn University and went to work for Allis Chalmers and later for Lockheed where he retired after 34 years of service. At Lockheed he helped pioneer the then emerging field of large aircraft structural testing working on C130, C141, and C5 aircraft programs.
He met and married Peggy Spivey in 1955 and shortly after acquired his first Model T a 1924 Touring. Over the next few years he and mom had four sons. There was always at least one Model A, Model T, or a Dodge Brothers in the garage. There was always a project or a car show or tour to go to and we grew up working with dad on cars and home projects. He taught us how to work with our hands and manage a project. Dad no longer owns a Model T but three sons each have at least one Model T today and he is still involved in working on them.
Dad was an early adopter of this Model T forum back when Gus Strangelove started it. Over the years it been a great community of Model T enthusiasts and a great deal of important information has been disseminated. Through this community we have met virtually and personally numerous other Model T enthusiasts.
The car dad is seated in is Jimís 1911 Model T touring. We just finished the restoration of this car late last year. Dad was very involved in the restoration and we all worked together to complete the project. Another parallel project has been the restoration of Alanís 1914 American Underslung. It has been a long term and very involved project and dadís help has been invaluable.

Congratulations on the '11. I've been following bits and pieces of your adventure for years now. Is this the one that came out of the Ford dealer?
That is the car that came out of the Ford Dealership in Dublin, GA in 2011. It has taken a while but it is finally finished.
