What couplers are needed to install Muncie aux trans?
Randall - The Muncies had a coupling sleeve (round on the outside, square on the inside) that fit over the Model T transmission output shaft . I can get dimensions for you if this is what you are talking about. You might be able to find a piece of heavy wall square tubing that would do the same thing.
For my Muncie, I cut a piece off an old transmission tail shaft for my coupling. The result was a perfect fit.
1. To "couple" the T output to the Muncie input a special u-joint is used that has a shortened female end. This is a Muncie part originally provided with the Muncie. Some folks have custom made a male/female coupler for this connection and it seems to work out fine.
2. To "couple" the Muncie output to the drive shaft a simple coupler is used. It looks like a piece of round stock, maybe around 1.25" in diameter, with a square hole its entire length. This is a Muncie part originally provided with the transmission.
I hope this helps you.
Thanks fellows Iím going to try Randyís way I have an old tail shaft, I have an old warlord in my touring how do the Muncie compare as being quitter or noisier and underdrive , overdrive to the warlord?
Muncie is noisier, especially in OD.
