Does anyone know of a good engine machine shop in either Reno or Sparks, Nevada? My block needs surfacing, boring/honing to .060 and valve seats installed. Since my son lives in Sparks, I could drive there and stay a couple of days until the work was done and head home.

A hot tank for the block would be a plus too!

Thanks, George

Kazorkian (sp?) is in Carson City. I recall you were going to use your mains as is. Putting a block in a caustic solution hot tank with babbitt intact will ruin the bearings.

Thanks Dan, I'll check for a website or address. No, I wouldn't allow them to submerge the block. If the water passages really need cleaning, I'd have them hang it upside down and lower it until only the very top of the block gets submerged, leaving the bearings far above the surface. Now, if the fumes alone might damage the Babbitt, I'll forgo hot tanking and clean it mechanically.
