The Porter Collection of Early Letter Series Fords left the HCCA Museum in Hershey Pa. today for their new home where they were built at the Piquette Avenue Plant in Detroit. At least one of each letter series including a Model K is under way. George

Nice!
Details? On loan? How long?

Wayne, I believe the collection will be permanent, It has not been on display at the AACA Museum in years, it has been in storage and became a "insurance drain" on the Museum's finances, as the AACA Museum has kept coverage on the collection. More information can be found on the internet by looking up "Larry Porter Collection", also Facebook under "AACA Museum, Inc." also in Early Ford Registry

I wonder if there will be more redeployment of museum assets now that the HCCA club and museum have decided to sever their ties.

I do not believe this collection was ever owned by the AACA or the Museum!

I believe the cars are placed in an irrevocable trust. I know at one time there appeared to be friction with family members regarding the collection. Piquette will be a wonderful venue for this incredible collection. Thank you Piquette Directors, Board and supporters for making this happen....

Oops, I meant AACA in my post, got my acronyms mixed up. :-)

George,

The last time I was at the AACA Museum in 2014, the Porter collection was on display. Has it been in storage more recently?

Dan

The collection will be on display at Piquette for at least 5 years. It is owned by the Larry Porter Trust. The collection includes a super-rare Model B! Not many museums can claim a Model B on their display floor! There have been many security updates to the museum in anticipation of this major collection. It's an honor for Piquette to be selected as the venue for this collection and an honor to present them to the world, after many years of being stashed away.

While the collection is arriving at Piquette now, and by "now", I mean as I'm typing this, the big debut will occur at the beginning of the 2018 season at Piquette, (May 2018). However, that's NOT to say that if you arrive before May 2018 that you won't be able to see them. That's just when the big celebration is planned. BE THERE!!!

Wonderful! What treasures. :-)

I see the Model T is a three pedal car, does anyone know what serial number it is?

What a great collection. The cars will certainly be well appreciated at Piquette. Congratulations to all those involved.

Great to see and I bet all involved enjoyed every minute of it. Reminds me of when I shifted my Fronty Fords when I moved south. Here are some pics of a truck load of Frontys in Australia.

Expensive, a lot of work but very enjoyable days loading and unloading, thanks to some friends help, especially John Page.
