Saw this yesterday on craislist
https://rochester.craigslist.org/cto/d/1915-ford-model/6405690691.html
here's what she has to say about it
I'm selling it at this price of $9,000 because my husband died 2 months ago and it brings me bad memories and that's the reason I want to sell it asap. No damage or hidden defects. It is in immaculate condition, meticulously maintained. I have a clear title, without liens or loans on it. Me and my son decided to sell the house and we moved to my parents house in Westport, PA trying to start a new life.
I want to use eBay Motors services (5 days of testing prior purchase) for the safety of both of us so if you’re interested in purchasing, please provide me your full name for the bill of sale, your delivery address and a phone number so I can notify eBay that you're selected as my possible buyer and they will contact you to explain the entire procedure. I look forward to hear from you. Thanks!
P.S. I have attached the pics to the email, the specs are below:
Body Type : Touring Convertible
Transmission : Manual
Drive Type : RWD
Exterior Color : Red
Interior Color : Black
Fuel Type : Gasoline
Title : Clear
This car is an absolute blast to drive. The car starts, runs, drives, shifts, brakes and sounds like a Model T should. This car is ready to drive around town, enjoy with the family or take to car shows immediately. New carburetor, new brakes, engine starts with the push of a button and is running fantastic, converted to 12 Volt & electric start, converted to 12 V electric head lights and rear light, nice and clean interior, nice and very clean underneath, no rust at all, antique artillery wood wheels, super clean engine compartment, always garaged and never seen any rain.
Pictures are to good to be true
description sounds just like the scam $6k 1916 T that's been floating around CL the past few months.
Also for sale in Elko, Missoula, and Baltimore. Same car, different angles.
I am certain the pictures, and the entire add, is "too good to be true".
why would e-bay contact you...total scam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
can notify eBay that you're selected as my possible buyer and they will contact you to explain the entire procedure. I look forward to hear from you.
I sure wouldn't marry this person. Her husbands don't live long.
Didn't think of it like that Steve. But her husbands did have a really nice and extensive Model A and T collection.
this scamming person thinks we're stupid...e-bay doesn't hold money ebay is just a auction company
this is what they just responded
Right now, I'm not home because I'm a special needs nurse and can’t take off but I can arrange delivery to your address. I’d like it if we could use eBay because someone stood me up last week - he made me drive there but he didn't show up. They’ll hold the money so you have the chance to inspect it for 5 days. Only after you’ve had the chance to do all that you will call eBay and let them release the money. You’re not committed to buy it and if you request a refund, eBay will provide it within 24h.
If that sounds good to you, then all I need to get started with, is your name, delivery address and phone number.
This SCAM phrase is in over a dozen different old car CL ads all across the country, for a lot of different cars.
"My husband died 2 months ago and it brings me bad memories and that's the reason I want to sell it asap. No damage or hidden defects. It is in immaculate condition, meticulously maintained. I have a clear title, without liens or loans on it. Me and my son decided to sell the house and we moved to my parents house"
BUYER BEWARE
I told him I live in the same town cash on hand will come and get it now. He wants other scammers payments
Again ....
If you reply to any of these ads you are providing contact information that is harvested & utilized to try and defraud you.
Part of the reason these scams are so pervasive is they gather actual contact information when a real person replies.

How soon we forget.
That particular car was listed on eBay last month and sold for $19,000. It was also discussed on this forum.

It's undoubtedly the same scammer who has been listing a very nice, $6000, Model A on craigslist all over the place.
The advertiser gets flagged and shows up again at another location time and time again.
The ad has appeared on Wisconsin craigslist at least twice and been flagged.......once by me.
The ad copy is a giveaway.
I see the scammers found a another one. Looks like they got tired of calling people on the phone saying they are from the IRS

Yeh, I've seen this car advertised somewhere too, just can't remember. I just remember thinking why would someone paint a '15 fire engine red? And the typical "too good to be true" price...buyer beware!
We live in a world so full of this nonsense, we've become accustomed to it and respond, quite correctly, with automatic skepticism. -If I get a phone call and the caller asks to speak to Robert (or anyone in my family), I ask, "How do you know him?" -If the caller won't give me an immediate, satisfactory explanation, I say, "This is my unlisted number. -It's unlisted for a reason. -Please leave me alone and don't bother me again." -That response covers all the legal bases, should I ever need to have done that.
If I hear that familiar foreign accent, I don't go any further than to say, "Go scam somebody else," and hang up. -Yeah, that sounds racist, but we all know about the exiled royal prince from Nigeria. -Seems there are plenty of scammers from India, too.
When it comes to buying a Model T, we're all in the "network" and it's all but impossible to put one over on us. -We're just too jaded to fall for that stuff.
The new one is Apple ICloud your account has been comprimised they call on your landline phone and if you call that number back it the Apple store and the number has been hijacked. At least that store put out a recorded warning that their number been hijack an do not call these spammers
Here is a 1931 Victoria to go with the T. Seems like $9000 is the price of a scam.

There are four or five cars scams I have seen lately on CL that span the country. The Red 1915 sticks out like a sore thumb, I zapped about six or seven last night alone. all the cars look like show cars spotless for the most part, But after seeing a few of them they are easy to spot, and ZAP, Most all only post one picture, Which looks like a trailer QUEEN outstanding picture, where most all legitimate ads have a number of shots and many have contact numbers, Scammer has only CL contact info, most vehicles are priced 5K to 9K or about 30 to 50% of market value, If a number of forum members would Zap one or two Scams cars a day, this Turkey would probably move on, But what ever You do not respond to the ad, unless You want to be on the Spammer hot sheet and passed all over the world, and if it seems to good to be true it probably is.
