Are the drive shaft felt seal #TT1039 and the axle felt seal #TT1021 the same?
Are the drive shaft felt seal container #TT1040 and the axle felt seal container #TT1022 the same?
I have found reference to them being the same and that would make sense, but they appear different to me.
I am looking for a #TT1040 drive shaft felt container.
Thank You All,
Terry

Usually if a part number is different, it is a different part. It may look similar, but the form fit and function will be different. Why would Ford want to have multiple part numbers for the same part? That is an increased cost in parts supply.
Likely no, as the factory number are different too for those TT p/n's. The TT axle is larger dia. than the TT driveshaft.
TT1040 Drive shaft felt container is Factory # 110.
Here is the TT-1025 axle felt cup, the i.d. is approx. 1 3/4" dia. Your post listed the number as TT-1022 for the axle cup, but that # is the axle shaft bearing retainer.
The TT-1040 in the Parts book has similar look, but a flat flange around the outside, and likely smaller i.d.
You could check with Lang's used parts supply as they always have lots of good used original parts.
Dan & John,
Thank you for your input.
Knowing how Ford was frugal, I found a comment about the cups and felts being the same for both the drive shaft and axles. While I sure agree with different numbers for different parts, the possibility existed, the items were the same just the numbers different for sales and location indication purposes.
Thank you for the suggestion on Lang's used parts. I will be checking with them to see if they might have a usable one.
I appreciate your time and knowledge on my behalf.
Merry Christmas,
Terry
