I got the TT Snowmobile out in the snow for the first time this afternoon.
The 50 year old rock hard tires immediately slipped inside the tracks... I put on some chains then made it another few hundred feet before loosing one and spinning a tire again.
Getting this together has made me think about how I ended up here.
Some time in maybe 2006 or 2007 I saw my first picture of a Snowmobile in a copy of Vintage Ford my then future father in law's house. At that time I had not considered owning a T but loved the idea of a Ford on skis
In 2013 a set of Skis were made for A T doodlebug I had picked up and brought back to life. With chains on the rear it was quite capable.
In October of 2015 a a set of genuine skis found me after a chance encounter with a fellow who said he had a number of interesting things including T parts (the stuff at his place amazes me -I have yet to go for a ride in his steam boat)
In April of 2016 an old timer took me for a ride to look at some old stuff, by chance driving off the property I spotted the tracks in the back of an old trailer used for storage. It took another two months to catch up with the owner but the tracks found a new home and I found a new friend.
Other than a trip to NH for the bogie axle and some Amish buggy springs from PA the other bits and pieces were more or less bent threaded, and filed in the garage/basement. below is a link to the reconstruction of the ski bottoms:

It is a little bit of a mix of parts Snowmobile and Snowbird, but the newer tracks allow use of the wider stock TT wheels.
What a beauty! Hope you get your tire / track issues sorted out.
I love it!
It's going to be a fun Winter Zachary
TOO COOL! {;o]

Thanks, everyone. I doubt it will get another chance in the snow until next weekend, maybe I can get some of the little issues sorted out and get a video then. The truck is put together but still lots to do before it will be half the machine most of you have(note the hole but no door handles)
Looks great. Hope you get small issues worked out soon. What A ride!
You have come a long ways with that machine. Working on it in all weather conditions, and on spare time that is hard to find. Congratulations on getting here.
As you know, working out the bugs is part of the game. I do know running bungee cords across the wheel to tighten the chains is what some do. Maybe get a couple packs of bungee cords?
Chad, There may be a quick and dirty solution to the tire slipping issue:
The doodlebug has 750 R20 agricultural tread -the truck has 600 R20's on it A quick swap might fix things up unless the diameter difference becomes an issue with bed clearance. I have an extra track segment that can be added to cover the additional length from circumference. Gearing is the high gears with a Ruckstell, but could become an issue too. Once the parts are machined a Warford will assure that it is not an issue but that will not be this season.
