I have a couple of old photos with what I believe is a model t Touring car. Looks like same car in both and is same family.

The young boy standing in a straddle position is my Grandfather. He was born in 1908.

Can anyone help?

Im interested in getting that type of vehicle.!

Gary,

If you post the photos and it is a T you will have your question answered quickly. If it is not a T it may take a little longer. If you have never posted a photo on the forum before -- it may take you a couple of tries. They have to be 200kb or less in size for registered users and l00kb or less for non-registered users. A link dealing with how to post them is: http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/50893/74713.html

If it doesn’t work easily for you (it didn’t for me until I got the first one to post and after that is was easy) if you click on my name at the beginning of this post, it brings up my profile and the third line down has my e-mail address. E-mail me the photos and I will gladly put them up for you while you learn the couple of tricks for posting them. Please put Model T in the subject line -- it will be opened a lot sooner that way.

Respectfully submitted,

Gary,

It looks like the cars are not Fords. The second picture above with the radiator that is easy to see appears to have the Chevrolet “bow tie” emblem on the radiator shell – shown below:

It looks like the pictures you sent are compressed pictures which makes them faster to load on the computer. They are about 50kb in size. If you e-mail me some higher resolution photos 600kb or so, I could zoom in, crop just the cars, and post those so people could see more details of the cars. We might even be able to read the numbers on the license plate and possibly tell what year tag in on the car. It is always fun to track down additional information about our Grandparents. If that was a picture of my Grandfather, I would wonder if the Chevy front axle I saw in the scrap pile at his brother’s farm was from the same car. I’ll let others narrow down what year and what make the cars are.

Respectfully submitted,

From the tilted back windshield and the cowl I would guess between 1918 and 1922 Chevrolet. Best of luck on your search.

Ken is right about the 15º slanted windshield starting with the 1918 models. I'm guessing 1918 because of the one piece windshield. Both cars have the Chebby rear window.

Here's my uncle, Lester Parker, with his stepson Herman Roach and a 490 touring filled with the fruits of their labor. With the straight up windshield, this would be a 1916 or 1917. It was the first car in the family, bought used in 1919.

It looks like a 1918 Chevrolet 490. I used to do maintenance on one in the museum I used to work for.

My 93 year old mother-in-law is in the back of this Chevy, ready for the return to Rockford, Ill, after a year in Tucson. I have the trunk and a couple of other parts from that trip in 1923-5.
