I am helping a friend build a 26 Speedster with a Frontenac Head. Unfortunately, the rocker arm assembly is damaged beyond repair. Namely, one shaft is cracked at the bolt hole and two of the caps are cracked. Are remanufactured parts available? Are there any used parts available? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The shaft shouldn't be a problem for you machine shop. The caps are an easy fix, take the shaft to the hardware and slip it into a piece of black pipe that fits and buy a foot of it. Take it home and cut it to the proper leinght then split it it two for two caps and drill out the center for the bolt (grind / file so it seats correctly) . I have done it and it works fine, lots faster than having something cast and machined that doesn't show anyway.

jack daron from indiana supplied me with a nice set of new rocker arms for a frontenac head. i don't have any miles on the rebuilt engine, but they appear to have been well made, and were very reasonable.

An original rocker broke on me a few years ago, so I just had it welded back together. It does daily duty.

how about an instant critique, then? in my case, i bought a head, and the fellow couldn't find the rocker arm parts, but promised them when he came across them. having heard the wind blow before, and also having flunked patience in school, i bought a set from you. ( the fellow did find the originals and gave them to me later.... we decided to use yours instead ) my great model T engine guy used yours to complete the job, and we have had the motor running on a test stand and it sounds awesome. the only thing i noticed was the rockers did not hit on the center of the valve stem, but the automotive machine shop said it wasn't a big deal, and supplied hardened caps for between the rocker and valve stem end. it was explained to me that they revolve, so there is little wear. so ,belatedly, thanks to uncle jack daron, and also thanks to joe bell, from tiffin , ohio, who gets all the credit for a very nice assembly job.

Try Rocker Arm Specialist in Anderson ,Ca. Phone 530-378-1075 Gary Patrick. Very reasonable for a brand new set of rockers, shaft and stands. They did a "C" Rajo set for me ($175, 5 years ago) and it works perfectly. They just finished a complete set of roller rockers, shaft and stands for my Rutherford Model A head for $470. I also have an 8 valve Roof but they don't break rocker arms.

Thank you very much. The information was very helpful and now they cost $275 but at least you can find them.
