Has any one been successful in getting the 6586X head light reflector spring to fit???
If you did what was your technique.
Jim
hook the ends together so they lock and cannot be pushed toward the center. The points go out toward the reflector. The spring goes in the groove in the headlight shell and pushes against the reflector. When you put the rim with the lens on it pushes the reflector against the spring. Rotate the rim until the pins lock in place. You have to push in hard while turning. Sometimes a strap wrench helps.
Norm
I just put some in the other day. In addition to what Norm said, I found that if you put the locked ends in first, they tend to stay hooked better. It takes a little force to get them in the bucket, not much, but they don't just slip in. Hope this helps, Dave
Norm, Dave: The new spring does not come close to matching a 26T under resteration.
The points Norm you speak of are different in there distance from one another. I'm calling Lang in the morning.
The old rusted 26T spring went in as you both stated (easy and fast).
Jim
Jim, I ran into that problem a few years ago. Finally gave up on them when I was lucky enough to find some originals. As I recall, the ends were very different than the originals, I couldn't get them to work at all. Dave
This is why I will always stay with LANG's for parts.
