I have four Hayes 30 X 3 1/2 demountable rims on my 1922 T.
It came with an extra Ford K 30 X 3 1/2 demountable rim.
I held the Ford rim next to one of the Hayes rims and it appears as though they are the same.
Will a Ford K rim fit the wheels that use the Hayes rim? I thought that they were not interchangeable.
I want to mount a tire on the Ford K rim and use it as a spare.

Steve,
1. On your profile, I do not see any hinges on the left front door stamping of your car, so I assume your Model T is a 1922 USA and NOT a Canadian car. [The Canadian cars used demountable rims with the loose lugs – I believe they were produced by Kelsey and were a copy of the USA Kelsey 88. If anyone has information to confirm or correct that belief please let us know.]
2. Both the Hayes and Ford rims with the permanently attached lugs are interchangeable. Ref Jan 1924 Service Bulletin shown below:
3. You are correct that Ford did NOT want folks to mix many of the rims – which were also discussed above. Caution – many other companies also produced rims – and some will fit with minor modifications (Chevy Clincher rims – move the valve stem hole) while others may not.
Respectfully submitted,
Hap Tucker 19l5 Model T Ford touring cut off and made into a pickup truck and 1907 Model S Runabout. Sumter SC.
What does a Ford K rim look like? Or, to put it another way, how is it different from the Ford 2845B in the service bulletin picture above?
Yes Hap, mine is a US produced T.
I will have a look at the rim more closely and see if it appears as in the service bulletin.
I don't know at this time how it may be different, only that it is marked Ford K on the permanently attached lugs.

I had a good look at the lugs on the Ford K rim and it looks like the Ford 2845 B rim.
Thanks for the info.
