Hit a rough patch of road ther other evening, sounded as it I was about to be overtaken by a large
four-wheeled behemouth. Turned out it was only my splash guards. On my wood-bodied 1910 touring the
splash guards are tied in at the body mounts at the top and the running board braces at the bottom. This leaves the rear part of the apron free to rattle. I see no signs of a former screw
or nail in the wooden framework of the body. Being a reproduction pair of splashguards, there was no hole drilled to indicate the presence of a fastener. Is this where that sticky, gummy, clothlike fix-it-up product of our faded youth comes in? Oh Yea... friction tape. I think there may be a roll in grandad's tool box.
How did Henry handle it?
