Do the back springs on a 26touring front Have anything to hold them?
A roadster uses the same back springs but has wood supports correct?
The top picture is a roadster and the bottom picture looks like the front seat of a touring. My touring has wood supports on the back of the back seat, but the front seat just has a strip at the bottom where the upholstery tacks. It has no upright supports in the front seat.
I ordered the wood from MAC's and that is what they sent. It matches the picture in their catelog.

Thanks, Norman that is what I thaught. This is a photo of my choped touring, no springs.
Does anyone have pictures of the support for the back of the seat on a 27 coupe. I have new springs--but the support was not with the car.
Here is the Ford Parts book picture:

The front seat of the Touring just has a metal stringer, that shows in your picture.
There is an anti-rattle cardboard sheet that should be shoved under the metal stringer, that part is #8283BX in the Parts book, not made today, but you can use any good weather proof fiber board.
William,
Also recommend you take a look at the posting at: http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/80257/81912.html and I think that will also be some help. Note the 1926 1927 coupe body is virtually the same. But there were some minor changes. The very early 1926 coupe used a slightly different method for the back shelf behind the seat and that is pointed out in the pages from the Dec 1925 service bulletins that you can see at the link above.
Note that based on the picture from the service bulletin – the wood frame / support on the back rest stays with the springs. I.e. it is shown attached to the backrest and NOT the car body in the illustration they use at the link above. You can see the wooden strips below the bottom of the back rest cushion the mechanic is installing.
Also if you want a more detailed explanation of the package shelf send me note and I will post and/or send it to you. You may want to consider posting a new question next time – as it makes it easier for folks with a 1926 – 27 Coupe to answer your question if they read something about it in the title/subject.
Good luck with your Coupe – I’ve always liked those “improved car coupes” they just look really sharp to me..

Leon Parker previously provided the picture below from what is believed to be an unrestored 1926 or 27 coupe (sorry I forgot to type the year).
