I was just wondering if all this SPAM crap is coming from a disgruntled forum member or from someone who was recently pee'd off at comments made after they posted. Is there any way to back track past threads to see if the source can be located?

If they had electronically robbed millions of dollars or broken into one of the classified government computers I'm sure the culprit could be apprehended (although in some of those cases the culprit is in a country that will not cooperate with a US request for extradition). For our current situation it probably isn’t worth Bruce’s time. I.e. if they are identified there isn’t much that can be done. And hopefully it isn’t one of our own – most of the T folks I know are much nicer than that. Hey and with all those links they posted at first I thought they had a lot of good T information to share :-).

I would encourage us to get behind Bruce and support whatever decision he comes up with. I would guess he is probably tied up – (life, family, travel etc.) or he would have already chimed in (my bad if I missed his comments).

I personally am doing better with it. I’ve move on from I would like to kill the x#$% to “this too shall pass.”

I would encourage others if there is a thread that has information you really like and it was spammed – save a copy. On my computer that is easy for me to do. I “right click” inside the open thread I want. The popup window opens and I click on “select all.” Then I right click one more time on the highlighted information and the window opens and I click on “copy.” I then paste it into my word processing document. I also go back and copy the web address so I can reference it in the future and paste that into the same word processing document. The threads may not wind up being deleted – but if you save the information that is important to you, if they are deleted (the common practice in the past – as the automated computer tends to continues to hit the same threads) you will have the information to share with others in the future.

Just about everything internet related can be tracked, to a point. Once the data hits a wireless connection then it's pretty much a dead end. A guy could be parked outside your house in his car, using your internet connection, and then simply drive off looking for another wireless connection.

Often a neighbor will be using someones wireless connection without them knowing or without their permission. I know people who routinely use their neighbors internet WITH full knowledge and permission.

Many people have encryption enabled on their wireless modems, but most people just open the box and hook up the modem - and run it in a default condition (and wide open to hijacking!!).

Fordbarn posts IP addresses with the messages - nothing wrong with that approach as additional info besides the logged in users name.

One single piece of free software lets people drive around and log all wireless modems as they drive. This software shows if the connection is encrypted or wide open, and also shows signal strength. If the guys laptop has a GPS receiver attached, then the software also logs lat/long. At the end of an enjoyable afternoon's drive the guy goes home and looks at the street-level map he's created and sees all the cute little icons showing peoples unencrypted internet connections ... it's just too easy to do this crap, but this is the world we live in.

My daughter moved into an apartment and she turned on her laptop to find eight instances of LINKSYS and some that said PEGBUNDY or something personally identifiable. A few were not encrypted. On the other side, I've stayed at hotels where the icon is a computer bearing the same name as the hotel. Right next to it is the official link up. Someone is apparently trying to fake the hotel's network. If you want to be safe, don't broadcast your network name and encrypt.

For Will -- that's a good idea. I'm not a computer guy, so I don't know if that is easy to do or difficult to do. But I think we would want to require registration for the folks who could delete postings so the bored group of folks hanging around their computer wouldn't delete something that was actually helpful. You have a nice looking Touring converted to pickup truck. If you have a chance please take a look on the right front floorboard riser and let me know if you find a body number stamped there. See: http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/29/40322.html for additional details for open cars 1914-1923. As the cars approached 1923 the numbering may have stopped. With the introduction of the Ford produced 1924 style high cowl roadster and tourings -- they did not have a body number (at least apparently for USA open car production as the open car bodies were now all produced by Ford).

Hap Tucker 19l5 Model T Ford touring cut off and made into a pickup truck and l907 Model S Runabout (some of the early cars were also converted to pickups -- see the early 1906 Model N Ford below (we can tell it is a 1906 or possibly very early 1907 because it has the body irons that stick through the rear of the seat back for the buggy rail top to fasten to rather than the more common 1907-1908 style that go around the top of the seat rather than through the wooden seat back.)

Hi Hap,
thanks for your research, for gathering this information, and for shepherding this forum!

My excitement in adding my information is a little quelched by the fact that much of what you ask is missing.

1. No letter found on the heel riser. My touring is a pickup conversion like yours so that stamp may be on the missing second seat riser.

2. The body number seems stamped in the rt frt floor board riser, but the stamping seems poorly done, as though there wasn't a backing like an anvil or something behind the metal when it was struck. The numbers just look like a series a rectangular indentations. As best I can make out the number reads 3282050 -2 but I certainly wouldn't bet on it. The "-2" might be a "-m".

3. I'm finding no rivets but a notch for the radiator rod and four bolts holding the cowl to the wooden firewall.

4. T Touring (pickup conversion) with a straight and not slanted windshield

5. Metal gas tank cover with what looks like your picture of the Jasper hinges

6. There are metal back cushion supports

Engine 4,021,4xx
As for the casting date, I originally read the numers 9-17-20 but I believe my car was supposed to have been issued in May, so I'm going to say that "9" is an inverted 5. To the left of the water inlet are cast "N" and "17"

Story as I know it was that grandpa didn't want to pay the tax to have a car, so did away with the second seat in favor of a pickup, making a tax-exempt "farm implement." I think that is a familiar story to some.
