When I pulled the motor from my 27 roadster the hogs head was off and it seemed a little tricky for one man to twist and turn it out. Now that I am almost ready to put it back in I need to ask the question will it go in with the hogs head installed or will I run into trouble with the pedals getting hung up on everything?

Rob,
I put my 26 engine in my car with the hogs head and clutch pedal installed. You will have to tip the engine to get the pedal under the firewall. I bolted a short chain from the rear most manifold stud hole to the rear most water inlet elbow bolt hole and it was a good location to lift the engine for balance and easier tipping. I prefer the side loaded bolts method over the spark plug hole lifting eye or head bolt hole lifter, although I have done all three methods with no problems.

Leave the bands very loose so that the pedals will flop around. That will help.

If you don't already have an engine tilting jig for your crane Rob you should have as they are cheap - and handy for this job. Run the crane attachment point fore or aft by spinning the screw and you can level or tilt the engine attached to it. Unfortunately my first engine pull went so fast I didn't get pictures until the engine was out.

Regards,
Garnet
