What holds the seat riser in place on a 27 Fordor? Can it come out to make installing a Warford easier?
Bob,on my 24 Fordor the riser is nailed to the floor and is very difficult to remove.

Bob-
Unfortunately the Fordor is the only T where you actually have to cut away some of the timber to allow the Warford to fit. The seat riser is fixed to the main timber rails and wont come out without major disassembly. I used a holesaw to cut away enough of the floor riser timber to allow the Warford shifter to fit. This hasnt affected the structural strength at all. Ben from Texas T parts has done the same with his Fordor. luckily I new of this problem before I started the job and was ready for it. I assume you are fitting a new Warford? If it is an old one the length of the throw of the shift might be a problem due to the closeness of the shift lever to the seat cushion. If yours is an original one double check all your measurements before proceeding.
Good luck with the project. You will enjoy it when you are finished.

Warwick.
I intended to post these when the question was asked but couldn't find the pictures. They were in a post on last year's forum but apparently most of the threads containing pictures of my Fordor were deleted. If I knew for sure the reasons behind it, I might not take it quite so personal.
The piece referred to has a tenon that fits into a mortise in the body side rail. To remove it would require either cutting it apart or removing the front seat riser and back, body mount bolts, cowl, and everything else that prevents the side rails from moving away from each other. The tenon on the crossmember is 1.5" long.
Ray, a lot of threads got deleted because of spam as I recall, that might be what happened to your's. Keep up the good work, I envy you guys that make woodworking look so good. I have an old TT wood cab and flat bed that are in pretty rough shape, but everything is there for patterns. Would make a good project for someone with more talent than I have. Dave
