Get Low has just finished filming in Georgia. I have 3 cars in the film. My 26 roadster My 27 fordor and my 25 TT. It snowed and rained and the sun shined all in a period of 5 days. I froze on sunday and got sunburned on Wednesday.

Several of my friends also had cars and engines and fordson tractors in this film. It should be out around Christmas.
Stars Robert Duvall, Bill Murray, Sissy Spacek and others.

it's about a man ( Felix Bush) who had his funeral before he died so he could attend. Set in 1934 and based on a true story.

Is the last photo a Lincoln?

According to the blip on my computer it's a Henney bodied Kissel, that's gotta be one rare bird. Of course hearses didn't build up a whole lot of miles.

That is just too cool. Alabama has just passed an "economic stimulus" bill to encourage filming in the state. We Have had many films made here over the years. To Kill a Mocking Bird,Big Fish and Norma Rae, which was filmed locally, to name a few. I would love to have the opportunity you had Calvin...just tooo cool. Thanks for the great photos.
Bob

Thanks for the pictures, Calvin. I'll sure be watching for this movie, Robert Duvall being one of my favorite actors. Did you get to meet him? Bob

What was the Duvall movie where he was a wildcatter in Texas? He ends up driving away in a '36 Ford convertible coupe.

Hostory Channel's "Modern Marvels" had a show about OIL recently, and this movie must have been based on history.

Thanks, Phil. For some reason, netflix has a whole bunch of his movies, but not that one. Was it made for tv?

I'll program the tivo to capture it.

I worked the movie "The Stars Fell on Henrietta". I was retired (still am), and was hired by WB to furnish and find vehicles for the movie. They used my 28 unrestored Model A Roadster Pickup as one of the primary vehicles--driven by Adain Quinn and ridden in by Robert Duvall. Several other of my cars were used, and I found others for the movie. Was on location close to Anson Texas during filming, and got a real education on movie making---particularly the time it takes to do one shot--over and over.

It appears to be VHS only, and kinda' pricey on Tbay. It's not on the horizon yet on my tivo.

Robert: Like Ricks said, I think it is VHS only. You might check with the video rental places. I found a copy to purchase years ago at Hastings I believe. It was really neat being on location and watching the special effects folks work their magic.

When NBC filmed their mini-series "A Will of Their Own" in St. Louis several years ago, I was in a number of scenes with my car. Both the car and I also changed appearance from scene to scene. Here we are as a cop with his car.

I carried about five other cops and another T five more. We were breaking up a rally for women's suffrage.

We just rented the movie "Changeling" last night. I have never seen so many beautiful T's and also A's. Isn't it great to see them making more films with these old gems?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Alex Alongi on Sunday, April 05, 2009 - 10:34 am:

Jerry,

Watched the Changeling a few weeks ago, wonderful cars, (although I doubt if there'd be a pristine 1915 in 1928 LA). Very good movie, Eastwood did it again, but very disturbing.

I Know one of the guys who furnished a few cars for the "Changeling" He's a retired Latin fello. His cars are one of the police cars and a touring. He was first on set only as support for the cars but they soon realized that no one could learn how to drive a T fast enough to keep production rolling. He became one of the cops driving his car. He too learned how looooong it takes for "That Shot". I haven't seen him yet this season at our local car show.

I just tried to find a release date for Get Low with no success. Anybody know?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Pat Ferguson on Friday, July 03, 2009 - 11:58 am:

The '25 Touring I own was supposedly the T in the opening of Stars Fell On Henerietta. It's a fun movie to watch. Another good one to watch with T's & A's is "Leatherheads"/

The last picture of the Henney hearse is actually my dad's! I googled Get Low and this site came up...it is a 1927 hearse actually, and he spent 6 or 7 years restoring it pristine condition. I got to visit the set for a few days, very cool experience!
