I port mostly in the bottom 1/3 staying away from the idle ports. I try to sraighten the aeria from throtle & choke rod holes,to the venruri as much as possible . Adjustments are prety much the same. I wold like sometime to see if a Flow Bench wold show any imorovement.

I have done the same thing with a marked improvement in performance.
