What say you men of wisdom about the hole in the frame where the front spring center bolt sits? Mine is about 3/4 inches side to side and 1/2 inch front to back. Should the square bolt head be a snug fit to position the spring? If so I can weld it up and reshape it, but question is, do I need to?? Thanks in advance, Lloyde

Mom accused Dad of being such a meticulous perfectionist that he sanded the studs when building a house. She exaggerated, but I inherited some of that. It may not be necessary, but why not do it?

It was a square hole when it left the factory.

Lloyde, I would weld them up as needed, they should be square. Also look closely at the corners of the hole, cracks like to develope there. Now is the time to take care of those little problems before they become big ones! Dave

That hole is what CENTERS the spring to the frame. Having an over-sized hole can cause the spring to slip to one side or the other and tilt the chassis. If you do repair it, make sure the hole is centered on the cross member.
