I have finally started the project of restoring the chassis for my 1925 Model T. I am sure I will be using the forum at lot for sources and helpful information. First question. Where can I send my carb to get it rebuilt?
You may wish to contact Stan Howe. He does a fantastic job of rebuilding carbs. Look at some of the threads posted earlier.
Why don't you rebuild it yourself? The MFTCA has "how to" books on engine, transmission, electrical, front and rear end etc. A 25 would probably have a Holly NH or a Kingston L4 carb. Both are simple and straight forward to work on. Between the book, the service manual, and this forum, you can do it. probably for a cash outlay of slightly more than the round trip postage to send it out.
The Holley NH carb on my touring was toast (severe rust damage), so I bought a spare at a swap meet for $20 and "rebuilt" it myself. I use quotes because just taking out some old pieces and replacing them with new pieces is so simple that it hardly qualifies as rebuilding. The NH definitely ain't brain surgery. If I can do it, I expect you can too.
I will get the parts and give it a try! Thanks
Jim -- I suggest (as did Sherm) that you invest in the MTFCA Carb book to guide you in your rebuild. NH's have several small passages which are capped by brass plugs, and those passages will need to be cleaned out if they are clogged. The book tells you how to do that. Other than that, the NH rebuild is pretty straightforward and the parts are readily available and inexpensive.
