My friend Mike Hartman in Ola, Arkansas, has been working for a coupoe of years on the production of high-speed gearing for the TT. Mike is a member of our Arkansas Tin Lizzies club, and is a good guy all around. He used a NOS set of 5:1 gears as a pattern, and he machines new ones using CNC technology. He has installed and tried them in his TT and is very happy with them.

Here is the info he gave me to spread the word:

Thanks Mike,
These look like a great repro. Does Mike (the maker) have any info on the cruising speed he gets - and is this with "stock" engine &
drive line?

Cheers
Adrian

Adrian -- Thanks for posting that photo. I couldn't figure out how to do it.

As for cruising speed, Mike and his family toured with the AR Tin Lizzie club last year with stock 7:1 gears in his truck and kept up with the pack just fine. He built, balanced, and aligned the engine and tranny in his TT, and we were all impressed, to say the least. No telling how fast his truck will go with these gears! :-)

Any questions for specifics about this gear set should be directed to Mike Hartman. I'd be glad to help, but I just don't know much about the particulars. His phone number and email address are in my first post.

p.s. -- Mike H. will have these gear sets for sale at the MOTAA swap meet on Petit Jean Mountain near Morrilton, AR, June 18-20.

(I hope it is politically correct for me to say that.) :-)

Mike W. This is great! Even though I do not need a set as I located a set that looks to be in great shape you might ask Mike H. to think about pricing only the ring gear as those of us who have already a HS set the ring is the part that in a TT takes all the wear. This one part could also put some sets back on the road. Did Mike H. look at making a set of gears with a different ratio something closer to 4 1/4?? The amount of prep work Im sure was high. A big Thanks from Me. Jerry

It would also be good to make the worm available seperatly. Here in our neck of the woods a lot of TT rearends were used for trailers and the worms are removed. I have three Ruckstells and two standard rears that are like that. It sure is good to see some stuff being made for the TT's that aren't easy to find. Kudos to Mike H. Also good to see some other things being reproduced such as the fatman wheel and the OHV kit. These guys are doing a heck of a job. Dave
