Since I the original is MIA how do I tell?
Ernie
rear seat for a '26 what?
Sorry, Touring
Ernie
no problem. I can't help you with a Touring though...sorry
Maybe these pics can help....
Rear seat finished 1926 Touring
Rear back rest spring ready for cover
Seat cushions in background covered
So I presume that this a straight seat. The reason I,m asking is that the seat frames come in 2 flavors, curved or straight.
The front seat cushion spring is curved at the leading edge on the front.
The rear seat cushion is fairly straight on the front but curved some at the rear edge.
Here is the front seat view showing the curve on the seat cushion.
Dan,
You're going to want to pad that front corner a bit more, or at least push things around so the coil rim wire is against the piping, or you'll soon have a hole in that front cushion side panel! It's worth a little undoing/redoing. Don't ask how I know this!!

The Ford parts book lists two versions of the cushions and springs but only reference "w/buttons" or "w/o buttons" for the upholstery. However; There's only one group of part numbers for the seat frame parts. I also checked the Snyder and Mac catalogs and they show only one type of spring.
Where did you see "curved" and "straight"?
I'm betting they're talking about front and rear seat backs as in Dan's pictures. Someone is selling backs without knowing which is front or rear?
Ken
That's probably it. The front back rest spring is 'curved' on each side of the top front to fit the runabout/touring front body tub.
The rear back rest spring has no curve on its front side. My pics show the '26-'27 style seat springs.
The vendor catalogs just don't show the spring detail pictures for all the seat springs, each seat spring and back rest spring is different depending on the body style / year.
Question came from perusing Langs catalogue. S130 no comment and s130A curved style.
Ernie
BTW Macs lists 2 frames tm352 and tm352c.
Ernie
You're right Ernie but the two styles aren't listed in the Ford parts book I have. I wonder if Ford changed the rear seat frame in 27 for more leg room. (Move the rear seat up and back into the rear panel.) That's the only reason I'd see for the curved frame.
Mac's doesn't show a picture of the curved style. This is the "non-curved" style (TM352). Someone with a late 27 might have to step in here.
Don't know what that Langs part S130 curved style no hump means. Need some info on that. All the rear seat frames are the same I think, except the part that goes over the rear crossmember. Some have curved hump section, some are open there. The rear seat bottom I put in my '26 had an opening to clear the crossmember, I just made a curved cover bolted over the opening.
New Howells seat risers front and rear, and new front seat back, and new front sills. A little cobbled welding and some bolts and with some bondo, filler and finish paint, it came out o.k. for me
They all have a hole for the rear axle hump, nobody reproduces the hump cover, (a busness opportunity?) so therefor the no hump remark in the desc..
