I would have resurrected and added to the earlier discussion of speedometers, but the search wasn't working. This morning I drove the touring up to Winfield, about thirteen miles north of me, because they have one of those radar speed signs beside the road as you enter town. My Cat Eye Velo 5 bike speedometer was reading 30 mph as I drove by, and the sign showed 29. As the old saying goes, close enough for gummint work. It should keep me from getting speeding tickets.

As for speed, I find 30 to 35 is comfortable. I haven't got up to 40 mph because at about 38 or 39 I start to get some coughing and popping. I don't know if that's fuel starvation or a timer problem, but it's not a big deal because I don't like going that fast anyway. The slower speed allows for observing the beautiful green fields and trees, the puffy white clouds against the blue sky, and the flattened raccoons in the road.

Steve, if you see a flattened black raccoon with a white stripe on its back, you might want to speed up a bit until you're past it..... :-)

Yea Steve, I feel the same way. That being the case, you're going to love your TT. There's nothing more relaxing than chuckling down a quiet country road in the morning, even though occasionally my "TT experience" is interrupted by moments of horror in the rear view mirror with someone bearing down on me at 70-80 mph. As my "Dear ol' Dad" used to say, "If the Good Lord made anything better, he kept it for himself".
