I'm new to Model T's here. I picked up a rebuilt engine and have started putting it together. I just ordered a new pin for the crankshaft pulley from Langs and am having trouble figuring out how to get it in. The pin appears to 3/8" whereas the hole in the crankshaft looks like it is more on the order of 5/16" (maybe a little larger). A few light taps with the hammer wont drive it in so what do I do?

Look at the pin carefully; I believe it's tapered and will only go in one way.
I have had problems with the new pins also, too large. I was able to drive one in about 1/3 of the way and it would not budge and started to mushroom. I had to cut the mushroom off and drive it out from the other end. The pin was gauling and was clearly too large. The old pin was worn but following advice from the forum I put a small bend in the old pin and it went in tight and stayed tight. If you only have a new pin to work with you may have to file it down a little. And of course, the pulley has a large hole and a small hole so the pin will only go in from one direction. The pin has a cotter pin hole that will be at the large pully hole once installed so like Harold says, there is only one way it will all go together.
The "new" pulley pins available today are not correct! They are out-of-round & oversized. They will not fit without some work to make them the correct size. Basically they are PIA.

Don't know PIA, but I do know P.O.S., also NFG.
I just cut a piece 0f 3/8" cold rolled to length, drill a hole for the cotter pin and it's done. No waiting for an order to come from one of the suppliers.
Jerry: Too large POS can cause PIA.

I didn't see this problem on the last POS list. Has the vendor(s) been notified? Is it still being sold or is there an updated replacement?
