What is a key board?

Believe it's the display board for the parts dept. or the Piano used to play "the Little Ford Rambled Right Along"

It's used to operate the Model T's on-board computer....

Here's one that was on ebay a while ago.

Not a hi-rev pic, but shows the metal key board used by dealers for selling new keys.

This one I got, its missing paint, lots of flakes off, but its original, hate to repaint it and loose its charm :-)

Can't take a hi rev pic as its in a carton somewhere, I'm in the process of redoing the garage to shrine my Ford T things :-)

Doesn't a high-rev picture turn too fast to be able to see it clearly? :-)

Don, I have a very nice original key board Would you like a picture with keys or without? Are you planning on making them? Everyone wants one but not many around. I bought mine at Harrah's last swap meet the year he died. Send me your E-Mail if you still need a pix.

Dan,

Spray a little WD40 on it - it will protect it and help keep the keys from stickinggggggggggggggggggggg. :-)

Years back I made up a pattern of the key board and cast them in aluminum. Sold a few at Hershey but haven't done any since. I painted them black and then rubbed white shoe polish in the letters and numbers. Over time some of the white has fallen out. If I ever did them again I would use powder coating first with black then fill in the letters and numbers with white powder and bake again. I have done this on other projects and it's easier and holds up better. Bob

I got one a few years back that was NOS. I paid $500 for it. Now they are going for more than that. I don't feel so bad any more.

Wow! $500? Back 15 years ago I sold my first reproduction key boards finished for $35 then later upped them to $50 before moving on to other projects.

Today I found and dusted off this pattern and may start recasting them if I knew they had a market that would make it worthwhile for the time it takes to reproduce a batch.

What would you think a person wanting a good copy would be willing to pay for one given today's market? Bob
