Car was in my garage in Mass, and landscapers son bent the spark advance rod rendering the car to not start! No one in these parts deals with T's! Any help or suggestions?

Remove number 1 spark plug and turn the crankshaft to where the piston comes all the way to the top with your thumb in the spark plug hole you will feel pressure. If you don't feel the pressure turn the crankshaft one complete turn. You will notice that the pin in the front pulley is horizontal. When you face the car the turn the engine just a slight bit more so the pin is about the 9:20 position. This is easier to do by leaving the car in high with the brake off and moving the car slightly front or back till you get the pin in this position.

With the crankshaft in this position, push the spark lever all the way to the top and with the key on battery and the rod removed from the timer, rotate the timer to the point where when you rotate it clockwise facing the front of the car the coil buzzes and if you turn it counter clockwise the coil stops buzzing. That point is where you should have the timer with the spark all the way up. Bend the rod so it just fits at that point. Now to test it, lay the spark plug on top of the head with the wire connected and with the spark all the way up as you turn the engine over the spark whould come right after the piston passes top dead center on the compression stroke. The pin should be just past horizontal. You will have to rotate the crankshaft two complete turns to reach the compression stroke for number 1 again.

I hope you haven't broken your arm yet! I have thought about what I posted above and made one error. The other information is correct. That error is in the second paragraph where I say rotate the timer to the point where when you rotate it clockwise. clockwise is incorrect. you should rotate it counterclockwise to the point where the coil starts buzzing and clockwise it stops buzzing. That is the point where you bend the rod to fit.
