Hi everyone..

I read somewhere that 600 wt lube will destroy the worm drive..

I am currently running a combination of 600 and 140 at approx 1:2 ratio. But, what should I be using?

Thanks! (I know this has been discussed but I forgot!)

Michael

140 will do the job alone. Don't forget to put some in the top bearing pipe plug at the back of the worm. It is usually oil starved, and doesn't get much at all via splash.

I use modern 140 weight oil, on the lube comparison charts it plots rught across the "old" 600W grading in terms of lubrication.

I use Morris oil (this is a UK brand of specialist oils).

I make sure it is "Non-EP additive" (I would rather be safer than sorry - this is another of the "hot topic aruments: EP or Non-EP, with EP havong a rputation for eroding bronze gears).

Cheers
Adrian
