I see ads for dental drive wire wheels and hubs but do not know what they look like. How are they different than the Buffalo wheels or Houcks?
I have a Dentist appointment tomorrow, I'll ask if he has any on hand.
James
Here is an old post showing picture of the dental drive hub

James the wheels have teeth in the back of the hubs as well as the hubs have teeth, they mesh, and the cap hold them on, or in case of the PHELPS I have for sale a plate over the hole in the middle of the wheel w/ 3 studs into the hub, Buffalo has indentations in the inner wheel and corresponding ones in the hubs also held on w/ nut, HOUCKS most are 6 pin thru holes in the face of the wheel w/ the hub holding the 6 pins, w/ a nut attached to the hub.

It means that the mating surfaces of the hub and wheel lock the two together with a row of teeth or interlocking mating surfaces rather than having a circle of bolts. Thus, a tire can be changed quickly by the single nut in the center of a wheel rather than several in a bolt circle. it is a speed thingie for the go fast boys. Note in the picture below that the hub cap actually holds the wheel on the spindle and you can not see the hidden interlocking teeth in the spindle and the wheel.
James; These MTFCA links show dental drive wheels. Tom
