I have a 27 Touring.
Is part 2722, the steering yolk bolt set (3 pieces) in this picture?
I am going to replace 2127B, 2728, 2729B bolt set (6 pieces).
Where is the 2722 bolt set used?
Thanks

Ooh! Ooh! Officers Toody and Muldoon say take a look at Page Six in the Ford parts book. In the lower illustration is #2721-C (spindle connecting rod yoke). I think it goes there.

Steve
Thanks for your response. I see on page six I made a transpo error. That is what I thought also. But, doesnt the 2721-B with nut go there?
What am I not seeing?

2722 (in the catalogs) is the split-socket bolt kit. It connects 2728 (Ball Socket Cap) to 2725 (Steering Gear Connecting Rod). You need two kits for each side of 2725. The bolt goes through the cap, screws into the rod then the nut is applied and cotter pinned. It's the bolt showing above the yoke in your picture.

"3-pieces" = Bolt, nut, cotter pin.

I lost one of those anti-shimmy springs in Wyoming last month. The front end looks lopsided without it. Where can I get another one?

Thanks for information. So, in vendor catalogs, two 2722 bolts sets are same as one 2729 bolt set.

Ops. I lied. I was getting cornfused. 2729 is the 2-bolt kit for the Steering Gear Connecting Rod (2725). You would need one kit for each side of the connecting rod. The single bolt kit (2722) is for the yoke on the early style Spindle Connecting Rod (2717). The early style had the ball forged with the yoke and a separate bolt for the clamp. This would be the bolt you loosen to adjust toe-in.

On later styles, the ball was separate and also acted as the clamp for adjusting rod length or toe-in.

Sorry for my error.

Ken
Thank you so much for the clarification. Looking at the catalogs, I had a hard time understanding the application of the part number 2722.

Ooh! Ooh!

Those bolts are used all over the engine and transmission cover. If they work, use them. Some times the vendors catalogs can be confusing.
