I have an unassembled 23T roadster. Do I complete the wooden body frame completely before attaching any of the skin?
Can anyone suggest an assembly sequence?

Do have a wood kit or a set of wood plans to build your own wood? You would start with your main sills. Make sure your frame is level and straight. Need to know what you have to give the details. I have a batch of pictures if you need them. Leon

You need to complete the wood before installing the sheet metal. BUT...as you go along, you need to continually check the fit of the sheet metal as you go. You cannot blindly assemble the wood, then install the sheet metal. It probably won't fit.

Think like you are building a house. You need a solid foundation, then install the framing, then install the covering. In this case, however, the covering is a very specific size, so you need to be sure it fits the framing.

As you assemble the wood, you need to be sure your main rails are mounted in a manner so they stay perfectly horizontal, both side to side and fore-aft, and do not continually move around as you are working on them.

Good luck

23T

If you (or anyone else who would like a copy) will click on my name, go to the 3rd line down and there is my e-mail address. If you send me an e-mail with "Send 1923 Low cowl Rewooding Plans" I will send you an article by RV Anderson that describes how he rewooded his low cowl 1923.

Note -- 1923 is a tricky year as they produced a low cowl slant windshield and in the same year introduced the high cowl model which is referred to as a 1924. Some of the body panels do not interchange well between the two styles -- especially the side and cowl panels.

Respectfully submitted,
