My 1925 model T was recently vandalized, both tires I believe were knifed. I am new to Model Ts (I am 38) and was wondering if anyone in the Los Angeles Area can help me change the tire tubes and show me how its done. I know there is videos online but this is one part I want to make sure I get right. I've been having a hard time with this car and maybe over my head. any help would be appreciated.
email is email@example.com
I can pay whoever helps me out. Just really need to get these tires fixed.
Welcome to the affliction. I'm sure you'll find some help with the tires. There are quite a few T guys in your area. As for being in over your head, don't feel like the Lone Ranger. Lots of us were in over our heads when we got into this. Sometimes I think I still am. Even some experienced car guys hit a sharp learning curve with the Model T because it's so different from other cars. But not to worry. This is a very active club and some of these guys will have good advice: http://www.lbmtc.com/
Meanwhile, here are the links I often post for new folks:
WELCOME to the Forum and the Model T affliction,
Sorry for Your loss, many T guys in LA just need to make connection, Goggle MTFCA & MTFCI for local T clubs and see if you can make a onnection, and always keep your prized T secured, Your are fortunate they didn't do a lot more damage. GOOD LUCK.
I'm sorry to hear someone did that to your T. Dont give up. I've ben thinking I'm in over my head for over a year now but the people of this fourm will keep you on track. Hopefully someone in the area can help you out. Did my first tires just a few months ago. Pretty sure I can do it in about 15 minutes now.
http://www.lbmtc.com. Long Beach Club also has a monthly T Garage and the Trs get together and help each other with maintenance stuff including tires.
Lucus Tires usually will have your tubes and tires in stock, Call before you go for stock check.http://www.lucasclassictires.com.
I would suspect you'll need tubes with full metal stems and hardware maybe necessary ,they usually have that in stock too. I don't know for sure how well rubber stems work on demountable rims.
Sent you an email. Give me a call.
same with me, I well help if needed (310)710 - 6216 mornings or after 9pm best. good luck
I think an even better question is "where" in the LA area are you? L.A. covers one hell of a lot of ground.
I live in Lomita. If you want to send me a private email, I can help. I live 12 miles south of Los Angeles. If your tires are real bad, I would suggest getting new ones before you try to do anything.
