I'm in the process of rebuilding my generator. I've finished cleaning everything and rebuilding the brush plate (a much bigger pain than I expected). Now I'm putting everything together, and I've hit a little snag.
Could someone show me how the generator output terminal goes together? I bought a new terminal insulator, and I can't seem to figure it out! I'm wondering if I'm missing something. Is there something that is supposed to hold it from the back side so it can't pop out or short out? I have the MTFCA electrical book, but it doesn't seem to address this in particular.
When I got the generator "working" 5 years ago, the old terminal had completely disintegrated. I made one out of a short piece of hose and random bits of plastic. It was supposed to be temporary, but wound up lasting 5 years. Maybe I should have kept it!
If someone could show or tell me how it's supposed to go together, I would be very appreciative!
Here is the sequence of parts on the Generator terminal bolt.
This will supply some needed clarification.
Ah! I see now the error of my ways. I'm missing a fiber washer.
Thanks, Ron. That's just what I needed!
