The service transmission brake bites and jerks the car to a sudden stop right at the end of braking. The band material is new old stock cotton. It was a thick lining. Maybe Montgomery wards. The reverse drum has the same lining. This just started and I put those bands in eight years ago. I just run and drive this car just enough to keep it up. I doubt I've put more than five hundred miles in the last eight years. No band lent in the screen when I checked. Couldn't see a crack on the drum either. That doesn't mean it ain't so though. Input? Guesses.. thanks. Good to visit the forum. It's a 15 roadster.

The problem started after a panic stop I had to make at a slow speed.

If the brake drum looks good you need to pull the drive line and check both ends. I just had one with similar symptoms and the u joint was trashed pretty bad. A quick stop could pop the rivets in a worn u joint.

Thanks. Not good. I was in the rear axle three years ago. The u joint looked good as I recall. The ring and pinion were worn and I wasn't in a position to buy new ones. The car Sat on blocks for a long time since so it hasn't been run much since I was in the rear axle.
