Hello all
Its not a Model T question but figured id ask.
I mainly restore Model T/A engines, but I recently got a 1924 Overland Model 92 Engine in to restore. I sourced most of the parts, pistons, valves, etc. I am currently working on the Rod and Main bearings.
Mine are insert type, all Babbitt and are in rough shape.
I can make new shells but that would be quite pricy and take a lot of time.
I was curious if anyone knows of anyone who might have extra shells or the molds I might need.
Id appreciate any help.

I'm assuming these are bronze backed shells. Unless they are damaged in some way, normal practice would be to repour them. If they are 1 piece shells and all Babbitt or white metal, new bronze shells with a babbitt lining would be the way to go.

oops, I see you said they were all Babbitt- so yes, make new shells and then pour them. No easy way around it.

My question would be, as long as you're already making the bronze, why not go the extra step and add the babbitt?

I looked into Work.com Waiting for a response. My current shells are solid Babbitt. I was hopping that on the off chance someone would have bronze shells laying around. I know its a long shot.
I think I'm going to use the caps/block as part of a mold and repour new Babbitt shells. I think that's going to be the way to go.

Any reason why you couldn't just use poured babbitt, same as a T engine? Why does it have to be an insert?
