My job has me traveling to Binghamton NY (actually Conklin, and staying in Vestal) for the next few weeks.
As I drove down Rt 88 from Albany today I ran into a few snow showers.
Late this afternoon and this evening there was heavy snow.
It was not sticking on the pavement but it made driving hard.
I can understand snow this late in the north country, but southern NY - almost Pennsylvania dosen’t seem right.
We had snow on and off all day in North east Pennsylvania. Our warm season is going to be even shorter than usual. Still, I'm sure there are others who this is a normal occurrence
Fred, I live in Binghamton across the river from Conklin. What brings you down this way?
Be glad you're not in southern Wisconsin and Minnesota. They got hammered again this past weekend and gonna get hammered again this week! I got lucky and managed to get my newest addition to the barn in between storms, after postponing the trip a week. Snow was still piled up where I got the car in MN.
Been one strange "spring".
My son was in Lexington, KY yesterday and said they had snow flurries there.
In central Indiana, we had snow on the ground - for a couple of hours.
Hhi Fred,
I am sorry for you that you just can't distance yourself from the snow. Will you be home for the weekend and able to join the club's Dust Off tour on Sunday? It is just up the road from your house. We are going to the USS Albacore in Portsmouth. Bill
Meanwhile, we have been dry, dry, dry. Yesterday started with a hard freeze, but today's high was 87º. Tomorrow, 67º. Don't like the Kansas weather? Just wait a day.
Today after work i went out to check on the T, and asked her what she thought about this Spring weather we were having...She was not amused!
Tim - I am running trials on an in-line solder reflow oven with a vacuum section at the Universal Advanced Process Lab. In Conklin.
When we get it to work it will allow the automotive circuit board designers to increase the power of the components due to better heat transfer.
This is going to take a few months.
Bill - I will be home this weekend but haven’t had time to get the T ready. I have a new Brassworks radiator that needs installing and the usual oil change adjustments etc before venturing on the road.
The first "Earth Day" Global cooling was the concern and a popular science article urged Florida Residents to get a snow blower before the price increase! Maybe I should start looking...!
We spent about a month in Baldwin and the heat in our 5'th wheel ran almost every night. We spoted a late 40 or early 50's car but it was the only old car seen.Damned fire ants!! Bud in Wheeler,Mi.
In 1967, we arrived in Rochester NY on April 19. It then snowed on April 29!! Later in the year there was about a foot of snow on the ground on November 14, my daughters birthday.
Spring in Rochester appeared to be the two weeks when the lilac blooms.
I now live in Southern California and its for the weather.....
It's been cold here too! Low about 45 and high around 71. Brr.
Norm
Fred...I sure hope your new Brassworks rad is better than the one that came on this car I recently brought home...you should see how bad the misalignment is for the top hose...it's almost an "S" curve!! Kudos to the guy who managed to get it installed..with plenty of black goop I noticed to keep it from leaking. God help me if I ever have to take the rad off. Hopefully the "S" hose will keep its set!
I live in Schoharie Valley in Central N.Y. It got cold in mid October, Snowed in mid November, and has been cold and snowing right up to today. Definitely one of the most miserable and dragged out Winters I've experienced. I'm moving out of this miserable State the first chance I get. The cold weather just lasts too long.
After reading the current posts about Brassworks I am concerned about my new radiator.
The posts in the past said they they did a great job.
I will be more than upset if it is junk.

Here in southern Minnesota we just got 8 more inches of snow today. Should be our last snow of the season but I thought that of our last 3 snowstorms.
Dean, I wouldn't put the snow blower away until Memorial Day weekend this year!!
Hi Dean, It is still snowing here but it will be all gone for the swap meet Saturday. Hope to see you, Bob.
I am outside of Saratoga and like to think of this as maybe killing off a few more bugs that crawled out from hiding too early.
The snow quit at 12 inches. Spring is right around the corner. It better come quick because in about two months the days start getting shorter.
Fred, these pictures were taken on April 6th out in my back yard, but they could have been taken this morning as it has been snowing hard here for the last hour or more!!!!
Looking forward to going on the club's Dust-Off tour this Sunday.
Happy motoring,
Warren
Hi Warren,
Trying to arrange this to be our lead vehicle for Sunday's Dust Off tour. ;-)
Good day to get photos with your Model T for this year's Christmas card
Need one of those to pull the corn planters in Minnesota.
Update-
I am back in Binghamton NY this week and it is now shirtsleeve weather.
I think I got sunburn today.
When will winter be here?
In Binghamton NY again this week.
Since it was warm last week I brought polo shirts.
As I was driving down Rt 88 yesterday I thought I made a mistake
It snowed most of the way.
At least it was still April.
Weather reports say it will warm up this week so I should have brought long johns and gloves
Yesterday April 30th we hit 80 degrees. But yet it went down as the coldest April on record in our area.
I think this was only the fourth April in history that Kansas had no tornadoes. It was too cold for them. My last wood burning in the kitchen stove and the living room fireplace didn't come until the 26th. I finally took the heavy bedding off my bed on the 29th. I'm glad were getting to open window season at last.
Here in southern California it is cold 45F and drizzly. In February it was hot and dry! Never know how it will be here in the spring. However, from what I read and hear from those in the northeast or northern midwest, we have it pretty good here. We had a tour Saturday and drove right along the coast in short sleeves. It was sunny that day.
Norm
I heard it snowed yesterday in Big Bear, California.
If it was 45º in Alpine, I can believe snow at 6800 feet. But either one is pretty rare for May.
Winter is gone and crazy spring is here. yesterday heavy rain and hail, luckily only a little larger than nickel. Forecast for today was hail over an inch. Only got the rain but the clouds looked bad. Not sure what tomorrow is foretasted but hopping that by Saturday it's gone as the McPherson car show is on for Saturday.
