I have an early 26 RPU bed that was made into a trailer. Any original cross-members are gone. I know what supports the wood front and back. My question is, what supports the wood in the middle part of the bed? Are there supposed to be x-members? If so, how many and where. Pics and/or measurements would be greatly appreciated.
TIA
No metal crossmembers. The wood bed planks are supported on ends and sides of the bed. Down each board joint to the next run metal bed strips on top that use carriage bolts and square toothed washers with hex nuts under.
Lastly, the hump plate is riveted to one of the strips and ends bolted to the two center planks.

Post with photos of bed.
Thanks Dan, that helps.
What is confusing me is looking at the parts catalogs.
Macs part Part #: 16-22802-1 Pickup Bed Cross Channels.
Lang's Part #PBED3 Pickup bed steel strips cross channels. These strips run crossways under a metal pickup bed. One pair per car. Have correct square hole pre-drilled. 1926-27
The early '26 stake pockets are up front like a '25.
