I'm working on a TT with a Rocky Mountain 6 speed transmission. I know nothing about this trans and am wondering if is a low, direct, overdrive and how do you shift it?
They were made and sold in both T and TT versions. The transmissions and most parts are not interchangeable (except for the shift lever).
If they are in good condition, they are very nice transmissions. The "six speed"s are the T planetary two speeds forward times the Rocky Mountain's three gears. The RM gears are under, direct, and over drives. They are a progressive shift, with two neutrals to get stuck in. I kid a little. They are actually much easier to shift than Warfords, Muncies and the like.
Great auxiliary gearing for Ts and TTs.
I have two Rocky's. I think your spot on under, direct and overdrive. One TT with a Rocky also has a two speed Ruckstel. Shifting the aux tranny is easy if you can reach around the steering wheel and work the throttle while making the change. I had to copy a lever and rod for my 2nd Rocky. Was going to put it on the truck tomorrow. I would like to find a oem lever and rod.
The shifter lever for these has a positive lock for each position that helps to keep them in gear. Pushing the shift lever to the side prior to shifting up or down, pulled a pin out of a hole in the shift bracket which provided the locking feature. There is a torsion spring that holds the lever in position.
I just acquired a 25 TT that has one of these units installed in front of the rear axle. Does anyone have a manual or anything in print that they can share? Just trying to learn about it.
Thanks everyone!
Rick
I picked up a TT running gear some time ago and it had a 3 spd Muncie, a 2 spd Rocky Mountain driveshaft, and a 2 spd ruckstell. 24 gear ratios! Used it to haul coal in Eastern Montana.

RE: Rocky Mountain 6 Speed TT Transmission
Any books, manuals, literature, anything in print that we can learn from?
Sounds like I'm not the only guy trying to learn about what they have.
Thanks everyone in advance for sharing your knowledge!
Kind Regards,
Rick

Dallas, did you get the Rocky Mountain Trans. installed in the '23, or are you thinking about the Chicago Trans.? Two different animals. If not yet, I sure hope you do. Dave
That's what I wanted to do, and call it a 3x3 two sticker. I bet Bud knows what I'm talking about. Dave
Dave, I meant to say for my 23 TT. Confuzers!
Anyone have one for a T for sale, I would like to buy one. Frank 818-254-6797
Tom, I also would like a scan if you don't mind.

Hey Tom, if you're scanning and emailing I could sure use some info. as my brand X (1924 Chev.) truck has a R. M. six speed. I've been running it for 30 yrs. with no problems except that the overdrive is noisy and it leaks a lot of grease. Maybe I'm overfilling it as I have no idea what the level should be and I fill it until I reach the filler hole. Anyway, I love that tranny. Email karened4@att.net Thanks.

Sorry guys, I have only those photo's - no actual paper. I can send em to you, but my system won't let me unless I reduce them - like you see here. So I think, they well not be any better. I saved em and then blow them up the best I can on my computer :-) I use 140 wt oil and luckily no leaks. There was one for sale at the last Long Beach swap meet for 60 bucks, in working order - no drive shaft or linkage. No one even seemed interested in it
